How we handle your information

Information we collect

From the quote form: property address, service requested, lot size, property conditions, name, phone, email, contact preference, and any notes you include. We use this to price the service and follow up.

From your account: email address (used for magic-link sign-in), name, billing history, service history, and photos of the work we've done on your property.

From your browser: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and analytics data. We use Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not track individual users across sites.

How we use it

• Quoting and scheduling your service
• Communicating about your account (email, SMS, phone)
• Processing payments through our payment processor
• Sending photo confirmations and service updates
• Improving the website and our service operations
• Meeting our legal and accounting obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising. We do not share customer lists with other businesses.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary information with the third-party services that make our business run:

• Neon — our database host (stores customer records, property details, service history)
• Vercel — our web host (delivers the website and processes form submissions)
• Resend — sends transactional email (sign-in links, confirmations, invoices)
• Twilio — sends SMS (route confirmations, photo confirmations) when SMS is enabled
• Stripe — processes payments when payment processing is enabled. Stripe stores card details; we do not.

We may also share information when legally required (subpoena, court order) or to protect our rights and the rights of customers.

Data retention

We keep customer records for as long as you're an active customer plus seven years afterward, which covers typical statute-of-limitations periods for business records. Quote requests that don't convert are kept for two years. Anonymized aggregate data may be retained longer for trend analysis.

Your choices

• Email opt-out: every promotional email has an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (sign-in links, invoices, service confirmations) are not promotional and continue regardless.
• SMS opt-out: reply STOP to any SMS to opt out of further messages.
• Data deletion: request deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing hello@upnorthlawns.com. We'll delete what we can while preserving records we're legally required to keep (e.g., invoice history for tax purposes).

Children

Our services and website are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as we add features or as the law changes. Material changes will be announced on the website or emailed to active customers. The "Effective" date at the top will be updated each time.
